Day 30…July 15 (My Mamma’s Birthday) Monahans, TX to Fort Worth, TX

Last night, Brad decided to sleep in the truck, but he quickly retreated to the tent when the heat inside the truck became unbearable, so all of us ended up sleeping in the tent. This morning, I got up really early to see the sunrise (which was Austin’s idea that he mentioned last night before going to bed). Brad was already up and had gone to take a shower by the time I got up. I took a few pictures of my bike…and a picture of Austin sleeping…then some pictures of the sky just before sunrise. I noticed a hill off in the distance, so I trekked through the sand to the top of the hill to get a better view of the sunrise…and I just sat there and read a little bit until the sun popped up. And when it came…it was AWESOME! I took several pictures (with Brad’s camera of course) and just took some time to reflect on God’s glorious beauty through creation. By the way, if someone ever tells you there is no God, just take them to see a sunset or a sunrise or the mountains or the Pacific coast or any other thing that neither man nor the theoretical “Big Bang” could have ever created. Anyways…when I was still taking in the beauty of God’s creation, Brad came trekking through the sand in his church clothes. He and I took some more pictures then headed back to the campsite and saw a dead tarantula spider in the sand…just a few feet from the tent.

We thought that the time had not changed over, but when we realized that it had, I had to hurry up and get ready for church. We went to a church in Midland, TX called Christian Life Center. It was a fairly small church, but they had an energetic Pastor (Billy Raies) who had a great personality and loved the Lord sincerely, and the musical worship was great! The church actually had a guest speaker from an orphanage in Guadalupe, Mexico called Rancho 3M. It was great to hear the stories of the kids that had come and gone from the orphanage and how God had used the Rancho 3M to impact their lives. After church was over we got to meet Pastor Billy and several other church members (who were all excited to have us).

When we left the church we hit the road once more to head to Fort Worth (about 5 hours away). Upon arriving in Fort Worth, we checked into the hotel that Dan’s Mom had got for us at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (Thanks Mrs. Janette!), then headed to a church just down the street since we got there before 6pm. The church we went to was very traditional and proud of it…the top of their bulletin read “Tradition in the Best Sense”. The service was ok, but the awesome part was when this lady sang “The King is Coming” (originally by Ray Boltz)…and (in an amazing opera like fashion) she sang that song like He really was coming…and it was awesome!

After church, we just went to the hotel, unloaded our stuff, and went up to our room…our HUGE very, very nice room (where Austin and I chose to run, launch, and land flat on the bed…and glide around on the armoires with wheels like we were Superman…and jumped on the bed — sorry Mom and Mrs. Julie). We were hungry, but we didn’t want to go out, so we had pizza and hot wings delivered (which was very good and fulfilling). We gave the delivery guy a million-dollar bill tract, and he seemed to enjoy it…and hopefully he will read it and come to a saving knowledge of Christ. After eating we pretty much hit the sack and I posted pictures and posted a few more blogs then hit the sack.

clay, i can't believe you and austin played on the furniture!! i was just telling britt last night how you and matthew never really did anything bad when you were growing up, and can you believe she laughed at me!!?? sounds like brad hasn't been affected by your red-neck upbringing, he's still maintaining composure in the midst of your crazies.
looking forward to seeing you all soon. let me know when you plan on getting to lagrange, and if austin and brad will be with you. i love you...mom
