Today, we woke up and ate at IHop again, but this time we substituted our strawberries for blueberries (on our pancakes)...which was much better! While Austin was paying, I sat next to him at the bar and began talking with a guy from TN (Nat) who used to be a multi-millionaire but lost everything he had. We had a good long conversation. While we were talking, his daughter called, so he told me that he wanted to go talk to her. Please pray now for Nat, his wife, and his 2 daughters (18 -- who is moving in with a drug dealer; and 20). So I walked outside of IHop, only to find that Brad and Austin had LEFT ME!!! -- those punks! I felt homeless b/c I could not use the phone in IHop (b/c it was not local) and I didn't want to ask anyone to use their cell phone and I tried to call collect and say that my name is "Come get me at IHop", but I wasn't sure if Austin heard or understood the message, so I waited. About 10 minutes later, I felt my pocket vibrating, and I discovered that I had Brad's phone in my pocket and Austin was calling me...Yay! They were washing clothes and Austin came and got me while Brad watched the clothes.
While at the Laundry Mat, we were able to talk to a few people and pass out a few gospel tracts. One Hispanic guy who Austin spoke with claimed that he was 55% sure that he would go to heaven and tried to justify his sins by claiming that other people have done a lot worse. Austin spoke with him for a pretty long time.
We wanted to see what L.A. had to offer, so we stopped at a Holiday Inn to look at their local pamphlets. A girl who worked there (Patricia, 20) began telling me about placing I may be interested in going and she gave me some maps to show me where to go. She also said that I could use their internet, so I got my laptop and came back inside. Patricia came over there to help me, and she noticed the Christian fish emblem on my laptop and asked if the guys with me were my Christian brothers...which began a very long conversation between Patricia and I. She informed me that she was a Christian but has totally taken the wrong path lately b/c she is having a hard time dealing with her fiance breaking up with her after 4 years. She was broken to pieces, and I noticed that her eyes got very watery. All I could do was point her to the cross and to go back to make sure her salvation was genuine to begin with and trust Christ fully. Please pray now for Patricia, that she would fall broken before the Lord and trust only in His healing power...for both sin and a broken heart.
One place that Patricia recommend we go was Universal Studios City Walk b/c it was free (but we found out it cost to park...like everywhere in L.A.). City Walk was really neat. They had several things going on. They had a contest to see who could do the best impersonation, and Austin joined...along with about 6 little bitty kids (Austin had to be at least twice the age of the oldest kid -- it was pretty funny)...and he imitated the Governator -- Arnold Swartznager! It was good, but a little bitty kid must have been cuter than Austin b/c the little kid won. We didn't get to talk to anyone at the City Walk, but we ate there then left.
We met up with Greg Tripy (my cousin Amy's fiance), who has an apartment just north of L.A. in North Hills. We met his roommate (Scott) and hung out with Greg for a while. It was pretty late, so Greg allowed us to crash on the floor at his place, which was awesome b/c I didn't feel like driving all the way to San Diego at midnight.
