Well, we decided to bypass Nashville and shoot straight to St. Louis. Before we even left Atlanta, we got the chance to talk to a girl from Orlando, FL who was lost...in more ways than one. We gave her directions about how to get back on 75 as well as directions of how to get to escape God's eternal wrath. She said that she was Catholic and that her parents disowned her b/c she had tatoos. She was in a hurry, so she really didn't want to listen to us very long.
In Kentucky, we ate at this amazing restaurant where we ate all-u-can-eat catfish! These people sitting across from us noticed us praying and they heard us say that we were from Georgia, so they asked us if we were on some sort of mission trip. I'm pretty sure that all 3 of them (husband, wife, and mother) were Christians. We ended up talking to them throughout the entire meal.
We arrived here at midnight (1:00 GA time) after driving 9 hours. Renny (the guy taking care of us here) met us at the church he attends, and we slept in the Sunday school building on couches.
This morning, we had to get up early...REAL early (well at least I would call 7am early)...and get dressed before the people arrived. Everyone was very welcoming and they were excited to meet us. The great thing about the church was the tremendous amount of racial diversity. The Sunday school we went to was amazing -- the teacher (Sylvester) laid the smack down and the ladies were very interactive and funny. During the service, the music was incredible and the pastor was also.
Before the preacher spoke, I was able to speak for about 15 minutes, so I just took that time to encourage them to share their faith on a regular basis. After the service, the pastor asked us to stand at the front of the church and had the deacons pray over us and take up an offering for us. When we left the church, Renny and his wife took us out to eat.
After eating, we headed out to the mall and had several great conversations with several people that God had clearly led us to. It was great to see God working in the lives of the people here.
When we left the mall, we went to see the famous Gateway Arch, which was amazing to see up close. We went to the top of the arch by an elevator and got to see the entire city skyline at dusk. Being 690 feet up, I was very scared, but I got used to it.
Overall, today was incredible!!! I look forward to seeing what God will do throughout the remainder of the trip. Stay tuned for more updates and continue to pray for us. God's grace to you all...
In Christ alone,
Clay
